EMERALD ROSE: SONG LYRICS

My PBJ

When you write a song, you want it to be about something you can really believe in, something you can commit your heart to, something that gives voice to the deep well-springs of the spirit.   With those thoughts--and memories of leaner days--in mind,  Brian penned this ode . . . to the peanut- butter-and-jelly sandwich.

MY PBJ
(words and music by Brian "Logan" Sullivan)

My alarm clock woke me up this morning
In time to go to work
I fell out of bed with the thought in my head:
Why does that damn thing always seem to work?
I stumbled to the kitchen in the light of dawn
In time to catch the day
I opened up the refrigerator door
And made myself another PBJ

Chorus:
My PBJ
Gets me through another day
My PBJ
Gets me by and sees me on my way

I started my car and headed off to work
With the smell of summer in the air
The smile on my face seemed so out of place
This job is more than I can bear
I drove on by to a good friend of mine
I told him I would pick him up today
He got inside and to my surprise
He had a double-decker PBJ

Chorus
