We started out in the mid 90's as a group of friends around a campfire sharing songs and playing D and D and later Magic: the Gathering. Eventually we got a wild hare to try a few songs in public, and after a few semi-disastrous trial gigs, people actually started listening!
Our first self-titled 1998 CD "Emerald Rose" - while not a stellar production - brought us some early fans, and some gigs at our local Irish pub earned us enough for a much better-produced studio album "Bending Tradition" and shortly after that a live CD "Fire In The Head" and a Celtic-themed compilation "Celtic Crescent." During this time we hooked up with some contacts at Atlanta's huge sci-fi media event Dragon*Con and ended up playing some very well-received concourse and fan shows.
The Dragon connection pulled us into some interesting new avenues. Branching out from a Celtic/pagan rock style, we began doing more fan and comedy numbers, matching the rollicking insanity of the Con community (which later led to our Con Suite album). The other important connection we made was with the Tolkien fan group TheOneRing.net (TORN). They were heavily connected to the new Peter Jackson films in production, loved our musical style, and arranged for us to perform at the post-Oscars parties in Hollywood for The Two Towers and Return of the King in 2002/2003. It was a blast getting to meet Peter Jackson and the fun-loving cast of these great movies!
Our touring and recording continued throughout the decade, with a significant studio effort "Archives of Ages to Come" and our second live album "That Night in the Garden." After 2010 we began feeling the stresses of finance, family, studio and touring more keenly. We produced two more CD's: Verdant and Sunwise, and another comedy-theme CD "Four Fat Dads" but then decided it was time to close up shop with a big final concert in our home North Georgia in 2018.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all our friends and fans throughout the years and in the many venues we played, from Florida to New Jersey to Boston and out to California! We hope our music has made a difference in many of your lives, as it has been such a big part of ours. Slainte!
